Our statutory functions

These are to:

• Operate the Primary Authority scheme
• Advise the Government on local regulation
• Issue guidance to local authorities
• Manage the list of national enforcement priorities
• Encourage innovation and good practice
• Develop formal partnerships with national regulators

Our basis for action is provided by the powers granted to us under the Regulatory Enforcement and Sanctions Act 2008.
