Who we are
The executive of LBRO is a highly skilled, close-knit team. Personnel are divided into resource pools as shown. To pursue our broad agenda, we also routinely work with associates with expertise in relevant fields. We operate from one office in Birmingham. Where staff are based elsewhere we share office space, for example with BIS in London and the Welsh Assembly Government in Cardiff. | ![]() |
Our products include tools, practice examples, project overviews, information, research findings and consultation reports. Although our remit covers the whole UK its extent varies, so we liaise with the devolved administrations as required.
We receive most of our income as ‘grant in aid' from BIS. In 2010-11, our allocation was £3.71 million and our total expenditure was £4.01 million, with the difference funded by other income sources.
LBRO is governed by an independent Board. Its six members have extensive experience of areas such as advocacy, business and governance.
Our activities are overseen by the Better Regulation Executive. We are also subject to Parliamentary scrutiny, particularly by the Regulatory Reform Committee.
