The Guidance for Regulators - Information Point (GRIP) is a key feature of an ongoing collaborative project that is introducing common regulatory competence standards for the professionals undertaking local regulation. The work is being led by LBRO in partnership with the World Class Coalition, which comprises 18 professional and representative bodies, including national regulators. Further details are given in the document below.
Project Overview: Common Approach to Competency for Regulators
The GRIP provides links to learning material to help regulators in local authorities and elsewhere meet their development needs in a cost-effective way. It supports the use of the RDNA self-assessment tool, having the same skills and knowledge sections and modules, but is also a stand-alone resource for anyone involved with or interested in local regulation.

The GRIP continues to evolve, shaped by users and stakeholders. Please use the feedback form to highlight material that should be added, or is surplus to requirements.
GRIP has seven sections, each sub-divided into modules, all of which can be accessed via the main menu. The folders on the left also lead to the sections, to supporting information on learning methods, and to the HSE GRIP for local authorities.
