CB Richard Ellis signs up to red tape cutting initiative

5 April 2011

CB Richard Ellis (CBRE) has signed a primary authority partnership with the City of London Corporation - a legally binding agreement that means the corporation will act as a single point of reference for health and safety regulations for CBRE in the UK.

Allison Connick, Director of Safety, Health and Environment at CBRE, said: "With many thousands of properties under management across the UK, it is important to us that we have consistent regulatory advice and enforcement.

"We are delighted that the City of London Corporation has agreed to work in partnership with us. This will enable CBRE to continuously improve its approach to safety and health management."

Jon Averns, Environmental Health and Public Protection Director at City of London Corporation, said: "We have worked with CBRE for many years in an informal collaborative partnership offering advice and assistance on a wide variety of property management-related health and safety matters.

"Now Primary Authority gives both of us a firm statutory basis on which to continue that good work and illustrates the City of London's commitment to proactively working with businesses who strive to achieve even higher standards of health and safety performance."

Primary Authority is administered by regulatory delivery organisation LBRO. For companies operating in two or more local council areas, the scheme provides reliable and consistent advice from a single source when dealing with environmental health, trading standards, health and safety, and licensing services.

LBRO Chief Executive Graham Russell said: "It's clear that CBRE and the City of London Corporation have, over many years, developed a strong relationship based on trust, which is a foundation stone to making the process of regulation work smoothly and efficiently for them both.

"This primary authority partnership provides the legal backing that will ensure the benefits of this trust will extend to other local authorities with which CBRE has dealings."

Within the UK, CB Richard Ellis has approximately 1,500 staff with offices in Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Jersey, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Sheffield and Southampton.
