Kwik Fit fixes red tape

17 December 2010

Kwik Fit Tyre and Exhaust Centres have joined an innovative scheme that will cut red tape associated with health and safety at 570 centres around the UK.

The company has signed a legally binding primary authority agreement with Newham Council in which the council will act as a single point of contact when dealing with health and safety regulations.

The Primary Authority scheme is run by technical experts in local regulation, LBRO. Chairman Clive Grace said: "The tyre and fast fit sector will benefit considerably by cutting out duplicated effort and having assured advice from a single point of contact when complying with local regulations.

"This is not just for the national operators: regional businesses that operate across council boundaries can take advantage; Merityre Specialists has a similar primary authority partnership with Test Valley Council, and has led the way in this sector."

In total, there are now 465 primary authority partnerships covering 144 businesses, more than 34,000 premises, and 850,000 employees. A full, up to date list of partnerships and the regulations they cover are maintained on the LBRO website. Visit: www.lbro.org.uk/pa-public-listings.php
