Courses to get the most from Primary Authority

13 January 2012

LBRO is offering training courses for regulators in local authorities considering becoming Primary Authorities; and for those already engaged with the scheme who want to get the most out of it.

Following recent announcements on extending Primary Authority to allow access to a wider range of businesses, these courses provide local authorities with the opportunity to support business through Primary Authority.

The one-day courses are designed to ensure partnerships deliver measurable benefits for local authorities and their business partners, and draw on the experiences of hundreds of primary authority partnerships around the country operating in sectors from retail and hospitality to manufacturing.

They consist of presentations and workshop exercises that provide delegates with the knowledge and skills they need to deliver successful partnerships.

Becoming A Primary Authority (next course February 16 at LBRO in Birmingham) covers how to set up as a Primary Authority and offer expertise to support business compliance.

It will include topics such as operating as a regulator within the scheme; the relevance of cost-recovery and examples of models in use; examples of best practice delivering prosperity and protection; and supporting compliance, delivering assurance, and improving communication.

Making an Impact through your Partnership (next course January 26 at Nottinghamshire County Council's offices) is for delivering partnerships or those about to take on the role.

Course topics include partnership management and resources; lessons learnt and ensuring a sustainable service; making an impact: Primary Authority advice and enforcing authorities;   preparation, design and effective implementation of inspection plans; and how to achieve recognition for your partnership

The courses are offered on a cost-recovery basis at £99 per delegate. Email emma.morgan@lbro.org.uk or telephone 0121 226 4041. Visit the LBRO website for details of more courses and venues.
