Learn how to use the tools that deliver better regulation

6th March 2012, 9:30am to 3.30pm, Jurys Inn, Birmingham

23 January 2012

The opportunity to learn how to use a range of resources to deliver better regulation is being offered in a free seminar organised by LBRO (Local Better Regulation Office).

Taking place at the Jurys Inn, Birmingham, on March 6, local and national regulators will learn about support for targeted, outcomes-focused regulatory delivery and hear from LBRO experts about how these resources can be used in service planning and delivery.

LBRO Chief Executive Graham Russell said: "As LBRO prepares to be reconfigured as the new streamlined body BRDO (Better Regulation Delivery Office) at the end of March, we are taking stock of our progress towards prosperity and protection. We want to share the resources we have developed with our stakeholders so far, to ensure they are widely available to all those working to deliver better outcomes."

Delegates can select three workshops from a choice of four:

1. Leadership Development for Better Regulation/Understanding Regulatory Culture

The session will introduce workshop that can be used to develop leadership competencies for regulation, as well as to better understand current regulatory challenges and to interact more effectively with local businesses.

2. Priority Regulatory Outcomes / Outcomes and Impacts

The Priority Regulatory Outcomes were launched last year, setting out a new approach to prioritising national outcomes that are delivered locally.  This session looks at resources which support local regulators to prioritise their activity against national outcomes, focus where resources should be allocated and measure progress towards meeting the outcomes that matter.

3. Primary Authority

This session focuses on resources that will help you to establish your local authority as a provider of Primary Authority services, and to maximise the benefits that your partnerships deliver to business, regulators, and citizens.

4. Common Approach to Competency

An overview of the new common approach to competency, what it involves, how to use it, and the implications for officers and managers.

All participants will also have an opportunity to hear about Trading Places and other LBRO resources.  To reserve your place at this seminar, please email your three workshop choices to enquiries@lbro.org.uk
