Mapping the Landscape
In 2008 LBRO published the first comprehensive map of the UK local regulatory landscape, which emphasized the scale of its complexity. It comprises 433 councils, 58 fire and rescue authorities, 152 port health authorities, 11 national regulators, 12 central government departments, and various other representative bodies. The conditions in the system need to be right to support councils to function efficiently and effectively. LBRO's second map brings key facts and figures up to date. Each section is now available as a separate document. This map is intended to benefit all those working within the regulatory landscape, by fostering a common understanding of the system in which they operate.
