Future Leaders Encouraged to Sign Up for Regulatory Services Leadership Course
With challenging times ahead, a workforce that keeps up-to-date with the latest sector developments adds significantly to the strategic value of councils. Those who are trained and equipped with relevant skills are more capable of adapting to a changing political and business environment.
To help council officers in regulatory services develop and progress their career in local government, new dates for the popular LACORS / KBA Strategic Leadership in Modern Local Government programme have been announced.
Two successful programmes have taken place and the third programme starts on 21 September 2009, with the closing date for applications of 21 August 2009. There are 14 places all offered with 50 per cent bursary funding provided by Local Better Regulation Office (LBRO), LACORS and KBA Solutions Ltd - who also run the programme with direct support from LACORS.
The innovative programme is made up of seven modules and has self managed learning. An excellent environment to meet and network with other influential regulatory service employees, and candidates will finish the programme with an ILM certification.
Derek Allen, executive director of LACORS, said:
"We are pleased to be able to offer officers working in council regulatory services another chance to keep up-to-date with the latest sector developments to add significantly to the strategic value of councils and at half the cost."
"I am delighted that LBRO and KBA have generously helped match fund this programme. I have no doubt this will encourage a wide range of aspiring leaders, from councils big and small, to take part in this programme."
LBRO Chair, Clive Grace said:
"We have never needed great leaders in local regulatory services more than we need them now, when business is suffering and communities are on the ropes. The strategic leadership course will help aspiring leaders to help their communities tackle economic regeneration, public health and housing, and enable them to develop the skills they need to give of their very best in these tough times. We are proud to sponsor this excellent course."
